The long and winding road
went on and ever on,
fraught with dangers and dead ends,
highwaymen on every side,
snake oil salesmen on every TV...
Everyone had an answer
that cost time, or treasure, or both
and those answers were wrong;
empty promises of fulfillment
and fake love, not to satisfy the soul,
but empty the wallet...
a famine of emotions followed.
I kept walking, trudging at times,
hoping one day to find you...believing anyway,
time traveling by the ocean
to pick up shark's teeth and think about you
in the crashing of the waves.
The road going on, and on, and on,
and now soon, I'm climbing aboard a plane,
for the first time alone,
to come out the other side
to you, at my journey's end.
My love having guided me to you,
your love just as surely beckoning me,
guiding me home.
